Atchison County Inmate Records and Jail Roster Lookup

Atchison County inmate records begin with the local jail roster, but a complete lookup may also involve court, state, federal, immigration, and victim-notification systems. A useful Atchison County jail roster search starts by identifying whether the person is in county custody, recently released, transferred, or held under another agency's authority. Booking information can help locate a person, confirm the agency involved, and understand the next records step, while official copies and older material usually require a direct request to the proper records custodian.

Atchison County Jail Roster Overview

The official county custody list is published by the Atchison County Sheriff's Office roster disclaimer. The roster has separate paths for Current Inmates and 48 Hour Release, and the current list inspected on June 13, 2026 showed 43 people. The page did not require a login or fee during the research pass. It is the best first stop for a person who may be held at the Atchison County Jail, but the Sheriff's disclaimer says the web roster is not the official Sheriff's Office or county record and cannot be certified for accuracy or authenticity.

The local roster covers the Atchison County Jail at 518 Parallel Street, the only detention facility identified in the county facility map. It may show local arrests, Atchison Police Department bookings, court commitments, sentenced jail commitments, warrants, parole violations, and some state, federal, or out-of-county holds while the person is physically held in the jail. It does not replace KDOC KASPER for sentenced Kansas prison custody, the Federal Bureau of Prisons locator for federal sentenced custody, ICE's locator for immigration detention, or court records for filed charges.

The live roster screenshot in the project manifest came from the current inmates page at atcosheriffks.org.

How to Use the Atchison County Inmate Roster

Use the roster first when the question is, "how do I find someone in the Atchison County jail?" Have the person's legal name, approximate booking date, and any known arresting agency ready. If the person was released very recently, use the 48 Hour Release option instead of assuming the current custody list is complete.

  1. Open the Sheriff's roster disclaimer and read the official-record warning before choosing a list.
  2. Select Current Inmates for people believed to be in custody, or 48 Hour Release for a recent release.
  3. Use Search By Name if the list is long. If the spelling is uncertain, try fewer name parts and then Show All.
  4. Use the Date, Current, Released, Newest to Oldest, or Oldest to Newest controls when the booking date is more useful than the name order.
  5. Open View Profile to see the full public profile fields, including the booking number, arresting agency, booking date and time, charges, and any published mugshot.
  6. Call 913-804-6080 before posting bond or relying on a charge or bail amount, because the sample profile warns that charges and bail may change after court appearances.

Atchison County Roster Search Fields

The roster controls are simple, but they answer different questions. Name search is for finding a person. Current and Released separate custody status. Date sorting helps when a family member knows the arrest happened overnight or during the prior day. No wildcard rule, minimum character rule, refresh frequency, or paid account requirement was posted on the pages inspected.

What an Atchison County Inmate Profile Shows

Roster cards and profile pages are custody records, not court judgments. A card may show a thumbnail, name, Booking #, age, booking date, charge labels, bond, and View Profile link. A sample profile inspected June 13, 2026 showed a larger mugshot, Booking #, age, gender, race, arresting agency, booking date and time, and charges. The profile also warned bond posters to call jail staff for the current bail amount, charges, and case numbers.

FieldWhat It Shows
Mugshot or imageThumbnail on the card and a larger booking image on the profile when available.
NameDisplayed prominently; roster cards use a last-name-first style.

Official Booking Records and KORA Requests

When the roster is unclear, missing a person, missing a photo, or no longer showing a released person, use the Sheriff's Open Records Request form. The form asks for the K.S.A. 45-230 commercial-use acknowledgement, requester name, address, phone, email, the records requested, and an electronic signature. Optional fields include business name, incident date, incident time, and case number. The form says the requester will be contacted for fee authorization if a fee is associated with the request.

Atchison County's Kansas Open Records Act page says requests must be acted on as soon as possible and no later than the end of the third business day after receipt. Fees may apply, advance payment may be required, and exemptions can limit disclosure. For jail records, ask precisely for the booking record, booking photograph, incident number, arresting agency, or release information needed. A narrow request is easier for the custodian to evaluate than a broad request for every record about a person.

Finding County, State, Federal, and ICE Detainees

Atchison County jail records should be separated from state prison, federal, and immigration records. A person can appear on the county roster while held locally for a new arrest, warrant, court order, out-of-county hold, federal hold, or KDOC-related matter. After transfer, the county roster may no longer be the right source. VINELink is also available for victim notification and release alerts, but it should not be treated as a certified booking record.

Booking Process in Atchison County

Atchison's official jail pages do not publish a full intake timeline, but the roster, commissary, medical, and jail pages show the working pieces. After an arrest, warrant pickup, commitment order, or transfer for local custody, the person is taken to the Atchison County Jail if accepted. Jail staff verify identity, create the booking record, assign a booking number, record the booking date and time, enter charge or hold information, and may publish a roster card or profile if not withheld.

The Jail Division page says the jail handles safe management, medical care, food services, and transportation. The medical page identifies Advanced Correctional Healthcare as the jail health provider. The commissary page says an inmate account is created when the person is booked, and funds may be used for commissary, phone time, medical services, or other Detention Center programs. First appearance and bond review depend on the court source of the case; Kansas pretrial release is governed by K.S.A. 22-2802, but local first-appearance timing was not posted in the jail pages reviewed.

Visitation Hours and Rules

Atchison County Jail visitation is video only through HomeWAV. Visitors must create a HomeWAV account online, through the app, or at the Sheriff's Office lobby kiosk if they cannot create one from home. The official page did not publish a dress code, remote fee schedule, holiday schedule, attorney visit procedure, or detailed ID list, so call 913-804-6080 before a planned visit if those details matter.

Mail, Communication, and Money After a Lookup

Mail should be addressed with the inmate's name, Atchison County Sheriff's Office, 518 Parallel Street, Atchison, KS 66002. Legal mail must be clearly marked and sent by USPS. The mail rules allow letters and postcards within limits, but photos may be no larger than 4x6, postcards may be no larger than 5x7, Polaroids are not allowed, and packages require prior approval. Publications require approval and must follow the jail's publication rules.

HomeWAV handles voice calls, video calls, on-site video visitation, eMessaging, tablets, commissary integration, media access, and law library access. Money uses Summit and Correct Pay or VendEngine. The lobby kiosk accepts cash, credit, or debit deposits with no fee listed on the sheriff page, while online deposits may have fees. Jail staff do not accept cash, checks, money orders, or other money for inmate accounts.

Bond and Case Number Confirmation

The roster may display a bond amount, but Atchison's sample profile specifically warns that charges and bail amounts may change after court appearances. The Sheriff's bond page says anyone posting a cash bond or using a bondsman should call the jail, tell staff when they will arrive, and identify the inmate. Visitors use the Sheriff's Office main entrance and staff assist at the control tower window. Cash bonds require the exact amount because staff cannot make change, and bondsmen must be approved by the Atchison County District Court.

Before sending money or posting bond: Confirm current custody, bail amount, charges, and case numbers with jail staff at 913-804-6080.

Sheriff App and VINELink Notifications

The Sheriff's Office publishes an official app page for mobile access to sheriff resources, public updates, crime-tip access, and published jail information. The research did not verify that any roster feature is app-only, so the website roster and records request form remain the verified source routes for inmate records. VINELink is also available for victim notification and release alerts. Use VINELink for notification needs, then verify record details with the jail, the court, or the official custodian that created the record.
